General Description Under the general supervision of the Maintenance and Custodial Staff, to perform interior and exterior building maintenance, cleaning and grounds maintenance. This position is located at the Recreation Center.
The work schedule is Monday - Thursday from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
This is a temporary position from March 20th - May 22nd. This will average 8 hours per week. Essential Functions of the Job / Knowledge, Skills and Abilities ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
• Sweep, vacuum, mop and scrub floors in park and recreational facilities.
• Clean windows and wash walls.
• Empty trash receptacles and properly dispose of recyclable material.
• Operate floor scrubber, wet/dry vacuum, floor buffer and all department lawn care equipment.
• Shovel snow.
• Rake leaves and assist with pruning hedges.
• Pick up trash in parking lots and activity areas.
• Clean bleacher areas and ball parks.
• Drag ballfields and assist with other general athletic field maintenance.
• Take chemical and compressor readings and record data in the log books.
• Adheres to all safety policies and procedures and attend required training.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES • Ability to perform general maintenance duties.
• Ability to work in a safe manner and comply with all safety practices and procedures.
• Knowledge of general maintenance and cleaning practices.
• Ability to operate lawnmower/trimmer.
• Ability to follow verbal and written directions.
• Ability to work independently and as a part of a crew efficiently and cooperatively.
Education and Experience Customer service experience is a plus in leisure services and facility operations.
Physical Requirements This work requires the frequent exertion of up to 25 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 100 pounds of force; work regularly requires standing, walking and using hands to finger, handle or feel, frequently requires speaking or hearing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling and lifting and occasionally requires sitting, climbing or balancing and tasting or smelling; close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus, depth perception, color perception and peripheral vision; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, using of measuring devices, assembly or fabrication of parts within arms length, operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work regularly requires exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment, frequently requires working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals and exposure to outdoor weather conditions and occasionally requires wet, humid conditions (non-weather), working in high, precarious places, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, exposure to extreme heat (non-weather), exposure to the risk of electrical shock and exposure to vibration; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
