Are you passionate about the environment and have knowledge of Florida native ecosystems and natural areas? Our Natural Areas and Trails department are in need of a tech-savvy, customer and environment focused Land Manager. This role supports fire mitigation and prescribed burn operations in addition to managing the resources necessary for our Natural Area lands. The main focus will be on equipment readiness, staff training, and coordination with our team members for resource management projects and assignments. The pay starts between $53,456.00 - $56,000.00, based upon experience, and benefits begin within 60 days of hire. • Assist County Fire Mitigation and ESIII with implementing prescribed fire operations on natural area lands.
• Operate and assist in maintaining vehicles and equipment utilized in prescribed fire operations.
• Prepare bid specifications in addition to contractor oversight for projects to be performed by outside contractors associated with fire mitigation and prescribed fire preparation vegetation management projects.
• Conduct monitoring, documentation and treatment of invasive plant occurrences.
• Aid in developing management and annual work plans; assisting with coordination of parks programs and events.
• Operation and maintenance of integrated pest management equipment and knowledge of techniques and effective processes.
• Collection, analysis and evaluation of land management projects/data including GPS/GIS information.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of land management and monitoring strategies for their restoration and maintenance.
• Participate in public outreach and develop material for public education on ecological burning and integrated pest management.
• Assist with grant applications for supplemental funding of land management projects; managing required follow-ups.
• Serve as a crew leader and supervise ESI’s in IPM roles.
• Coordinate IPM efforts across the division including facilitating quarterly IPM meetings and updating staff on changes and progress.
• Manage MAXIMO IPM related Work Orders for NAT Operations Team.
• Prioritize and schedule IPM Work Orders and update actuals into Maximo.
About the Schedule
Work Hours:
• Full-Time, 40 hours per week
• Monday - Friday
• 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
About You
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in biological, physical sciences, or a related field and two (2) years of professional experience.
• -OR- Masters degree from an accredited college or university in biological, physical sciences, or a related field and one year of professional experience.
• -OR- Progressively responsible professional experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college degree.
• Natural Areas Pesticide License or the ability to obtain license within eighteen (18) months of hire.
• Certification from the National Wildfire Coordinating Group for completion of Firefighter Training (S-130), or the ability to obtain within twelve (12) months of hire.
• Certification from the Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior (S-190), or the ability to obtain within twelve (12) months of hire.
• Must pass the Moderate or Arduous Pack Test within twelve (12) months of hire.
• Valid Florida Driver's License by date of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working on a prescribed burn team.
• Knowledge of Florida’s flora, fauna and habitats.
• Awareness of federal and state protected species.
Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.

Starting Pay Range: $53,456.00 - $56,000.00, based upon experience.
