Job Description
Review plans and specifications for proposed construction buildings and building improvements
Issue notices of code violations applicable to their license(s)
Enter results of inspections into the Land Information Management System (LIMS) database, and will prepare reports, worksheets and prepare daily activity reports
Research files and databases and maintains a variety of source background materials for reports.
Provide and maintain excellent customer service standard in answering questions from the public pertaining to building issues, codes and ordinances and interface positively with peers, co-workers, and other customers across the enterprise.
Work Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
About You
Minimum Qualifications:
Electrical Inspector Level I –
High School Diploma or its equivalent.
Four (4) years of experience in Electrical construction trade or related field inspection or plans review.
Bachelor’s Degree or courses from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Fire Administration, Building Construction/Inspection, or related field may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience with at least one-year in field construction (30 college credits is considered equivalent to one year of experience).
Must have or the ability to obtain within 120 days of hire a provisional license as a Standard Inspector in the applicable Electrical trade.
Must possess or be able to obtain a Standard Inspector license in the Electrical trade within 12 months of hire or prior to the expiration of the provisional license not to exceed 24 months from date of hire.
Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License.
Preferred Qualification: State of Florida Standard License issued by DBPR as an inspector for Electrical.
Electrical Inspector Level II –
High School Diploma or its equivalent.
Minimum three (3) years of experience performing plans reviews and/or inspections in Electrical trade.
Must have Standard Inspector License in the Electrical trade AND one of the following licenses or certifications: Building Inspector, Plumbing Commercial Inspector; Mechanical Commercial Inspector; Residential Inspector; or Plans Examiner License. Licenses listed above must be issued by the State of Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR).
Other Certifications include: Damage Assessment Certification (from ICC), Fire Safety Inspector I (from the Division of State Fire Marshal).
Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License.
Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.
