Position Summary
The Assistant Construction and Volunteer Manager is a working supervisory position. The position is responsible for supervision, safety, instruction/training, and daily quality of work of volunteers at Habitat build sites. This position is expected to foster an environment of learning, training, and team building for site volunteers, partner contractors, partner families, and staff members while utilizing personal construction skills and excellent project management skills.
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-time position, Non-exempt, 40 hours per week with benefits.
Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks
• Prepare for, organize, supervise and lead volunteer activities on volunteer days (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday 7:30-11:30AM).
• Supervise and provide leadership to volunteers, partner families, subcontractors, and staff.
• Manage homeowner volunteer and other volunteer events and hours in Volunteer Hub
• Lead, train, and supervise all volunteers and family partner members on construction techniques and HFHS safety standards.
• Promote a work site environment that contributes to a successful experience for volunteers and partner family members that encourages them to return. Act as a good ambassador for HFHS.
• Constantly evaluate work site safety to ensure safe work practices are always followed. Treat all individuals with the respect and dignity that reflects the ministry of HFHS.
• Provide support to the construction manager for building Habitat for Humanity Sarasota (HFHS) homes as per house plans, specifications, and quality requirements.
• Adhere to build schedules and deadlines.
• Additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

• Professional construction appearance
• Ability to work well with diverse individuals.
• Sensitivity to the needs of low-income and diverse family units
• Capacity to develop and maintain successful and productive relationships with Partner Families, Volunteers, Donors, Contractors, and Staff
• 3 years of general construction and project management experience preferred.
• High School Diploma/GED required
• Excellent communication, listening and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness & patience to work with unskilled volunteers.
• Ability to work within a team environment.
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
• Proven ability to teach/lead construction skills preferred.
Education  Requirements
• High School Diploma/GED required;
• Construction or OSHA certification/training preferred.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to communicate and exchange information.
• Ability to routinely lift and/or move up to 75lbs – unassisted.
• Ability to routinely lift over 75lbs with assistance.
• Ability to bend, stand, crawl, and walk for extended periods of time.
• Ability to reach & pull.
• Ability to use fingers to type, grab & manipulate.
• Ability to coordinate around adverse weather conditions.
• Good eye to hand coordination
• Good sense of balance

Annual Compensation: $65,000 - $70,000 starting salary
Benefits include fully paid health, dental and life insurance for employees with generous PTO/paid time off program, paid holidays.
Regular work week schedule: Tuesday through Saturday 7:30- 4:00pm. The successful candidate will have a “get it done” attitude
