The Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) is seeking qualified and enthusiastic individuals to join our Forensic Services within the Direct Care and Treatment (DCT) division of agency.
The Forensic Services provides mental health evaluation and treatment services to individuals diagnosed with a mental illness who present a risk to public safety. This is a safe and secure treatment environment.
The team has an exciting opportunity for a Cook Coordinator to join our team! The position will coordinate individualized and quantified food production for all meals, nourishments, and special events served at the facility.
Duties:
• To coordinate food preparation for regular and therapeutic diets so that meal production schedules are met, food prepared is of optimal quality, and enough food is prepared and available. Food is prepared and maintained under sanitary conditions following Food Code regulations and HACCP procedures.
• To coordinate weekly inventory food supplies. To place food orders with contracted food vendors. To coordinate the process of receiving and storing food delivered to Nutrition Services following food safety guidelines and department processes.
• Coordinate Nutrition Services HACCP plan in food production areas. To perform required daily cleaning activities so that sanitation standards are maintained and the health of all persons eating our food is safeguarded. To assist with other duties as assigned.
• To comply with all SPRTC administrative policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all standards and rules. To assist implementing facility and Nutrition Services procedures.
• To assure food forecast sheets are available a week in advance of meal and food production sheets are available daily.
• To provide training to new cooks on all tasks required to complete duties listed in cook position description.
Minimum Qualifications
• Current certificate in Food Safety (e.g. ServSafe Food Handler certificate or ServSafe Manager Certificate; OR the ability to obtain this certificate within the probationary period.
• One year of experience as a cook in a large restaurant, cafeteria, school, hospital, or equivalent experience in large volume cooking and food preparation.
Completion of a nine (9) month or longer full-time vocational/technical/associates school program in commercial cooking or commercial food preparation can substitute for six (6) months of work experience as a cook.

Direct Care & Treatment (DCT) healthcare facilities require employees to provide documentation that they are free from tuberculosis (TB) through a blood test prior to employment. DCT does not accept TB skin testing.
