We provide commercial waste services, and we convert your waste-to-energy to provide clean fuel. LJP is looking for a reliable and dedicated 1st Shift Supervisor to oversee our evening operations. This role ensures that our team works efficiently and safely, managing waste processing, sorting, and transport. Key responsibilities include coordinating workflow, enforcing safety standards, and leading a team to meet productivity targets. Key Responsibilities Shift Supervision and Team Leadership: Lead the 1st shift team by setting clear goals, providing direction, and ensuring a smooth workflow. Foster a positive work environment by encouraging open communication, addressing issues promptly, and supporting team members in meeting daily performance goals. Safety and Compliance Management: Enforce OSHA and company-specific safety standards by conducting regular safety checks and ensuring all team members adhere to protocols. Facilitate safety meetings, identify potential hazards, and take corrective actions to mitigate risks. Operations Coordination: Oversee all waste processing, sorting, and transportation activities, ensuring each task is completed efficiently and to standard. Coordinate with other supervisors and departments to maintain continuity across shifts and optimize the use of equipment and resources. Equipment Monitoring and Maintenance: Ensure all equipment, including loaders, forklifts, and balers, is operated correctly and safely. Conduct routine inspections, schedule maintenance as needed, and report equipment issues promptly to avoid disruptions. Training and Development: Provide on-the-job training to new team members and ongoing coaching to ensure compliance with best practices. Guide employees on efficient work methods and support their development to foster a skilled, safety-conscious workforce. Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Track shift performance, including productivity metrics and incident reports. Provide detailed shift summaries to management, highlighting any challenges, progress toward goals, and areas for improvement. Qualifications 3+ years of supervisory experience (waste management or logistics preferred) Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills Availability for evening shift, occasional overtime or weekend work as needed Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred to effectively communicate with diverse team members.
