JOB DESCRIPTION Position Title: Food & Beverage Intern – Level 1
Reports to: Food & Beverage Director

FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Job Summary
The Level 1 Food & Beverage Intern will gain hands on experience and assist the food and beverage team in daily operations and deliver exceptional dining experiences to members. This role is ideal for candidates looking to develop foundational skills in the food and beverage industry while learning the nuances of hospitality in a private, country club setting. The intern will rotate through various F&B areas including dining rooms, banquets, the pool, and private events, ensuring a well-rounded learning experience. The ideal candidate is passionate about hospitality and eager to learn the skills necessary to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Duties
Essential Duties include, but are not limited to:
Trust & Teamwork
• Assist service staff with setup and breakdown of dining areas and events, ensuring all spaces are ready for members and guests
• Work as part of the F&B team to deliver seamless service during meal periods and events, supporting colleagues and contributing to a collaborative environment
• Help with restocking and organizing supplies in the kitchen, bar, and service areas, maintaining cleanliness and readiness for service
Effective Communication
• Greet members and guests warmly, helping to create a welcoming atmosphere and assisting with any requests or inquiries
• Relay member feedback to supervisors, ensuring issues are addressed promptly and that the service team remains informed about any special requests
• Assist in the preparation of daily menus and event setups so that all materials are accurately presented and easy for members and staff to understand
Innovation
• Learn and suggest ways to improve operational efficiency in day-to-day service, such as more effective setups or ways to streamline communication between the BOH and FOH teams
• Assist in organizing small-scale events or dining experiences, contributing ideas for service enhancements
• Observe and learn new food service techniques, supporting efforts to continuously improve member dining experiences
Balance & Appreciation
• Ensure all dining areas are clean, organized, and well-presented before, during, and after service contributing to a polished and welcoming environment
• Support the F&B team in maintaining health and safety standards, so compliance with sanitation protocols and cleanliness regulations are met
• Participate in club-wide events, helping with setups and ensuring that members have an enjoyable experience from start to finish
Education And/or Experience
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Currently pursuing a degree in Hospitality Management or a related field, preferred
• Previous experience in food & beverage service, preferred
Job Knowledge, Core Competencies and Expectations
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Strong communication skills to engage members and guests effectively
• willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment, with a positive attitude toward growth and development
• Basic knowledge of food safety and handling procedures
• Attention to detail
• Passion for working in Hospitality with a team player mindset
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
• Frequent bending, stooping and reaching
• Must be able to lift 25lbs or more

• Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays as needed to support events and service operations
Other Benefits
In addition to field experience, interns will be provided with housing, paid an hourly rate and can expect to work 40+ hours each week. Pro shop discounts, uniforms and a meal allowance are also provided. Interns must have their own transportation. Selected interns will be given the opportunity to attend regularly scheduled CMAA meetings while employed.
