Access Control Technician
Job Description
The Student Housing Technologies (SHT) Access Control Technician provides technical support and assistance to customers, whether over the phone or in person. Their primary goal is to ensure client satisfaction and the proper operation of access control systems. As an Access Control Technician, you’ll play a crucial role in maintaining the company’s reputation and business.
Reports to: Vice President – Technology Services

• Monitor and manage access control systems to ensure optimal functionality and security.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to access control systems in a timely manner.
• Conduct regular system audits to ensure compliance with security policies and standards.
• Collaborate with the Facilities team to implement and enforce access control policies.
• Provide technical support and training to end-users on access control systems.
• Maintain accurate documentation of access control configurations, changes, and incidents.
• Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in access control and IT security.
• Serve as the initial point of contact for customers seeking access control assistance via phone or email.
Education & Experience
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Bachelor’s in IT, Computer Science or relevant field preferred.
• Proven experience as an access control technician or in a similar customer support role.
• 1+ years of customer service experience.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
• Strong understanding of IT security principles and practices.
• Proficiency in access control software and hardware.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, Certified Access Control Specialist) are a plus.
