Join our team and find yourself working in the abundance of natural beauty as far as the eye can see at the largest park within the Pinellas County Park System. Parks and Conservation Resources is seeking a highly motivated individual with experience in multiple trades, (i.e., carpentry, plumbing, electrical, etc. for Fort De Soto Park.
This position maintains all Parks and Preserve facilities that would include plumbing, carpentry, basic electrical, irrigation and painting. Employees are expected to perform semi-independently on assigned work and to provide guidance and training to others when completing work. Duties include ensuring tools, materials and necessary resources are available to perform and complete assigned tasks. Tasks are performed in accordance with established procedures requiring initiative and independent judgment. Duties may require the employee to serve in a lead capacity on either a regular or incidental basis. Work conditions, assignments, and supervision received differ, depending on the unit assignment.
This Craftworker 1 (Craftworker – Multi-Trades) position is located at: Fort De Soto Park 3500 Pinellas Bayway S. Tierra Verde, FL 33715. Work Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
What Will You?
• Perform semi-skilled and skilled work in one or more combinations of assignments in grounds, construction, facilities, maintenance, repair and other miscellaneous functions.
• Perform duties with one or more functions, i.e., air conditioning/heating specialists, electricians, mechanics, carpenters, welders, painters, cabinet making specialists and other skilled personnel to build, construct and maintain facilities, buildings, equipment, machinery, etc.
• Perform installation and repair of plumbing, heating and electrical equipment, lines and systems.
• Perform maintenance and repairs in parks and preserves relating to various plumbing systems and construction.
• Operate small equipment including but not limited to concrete saw, jackhammer, drills, drain cleaning equipment and other powered hand tools.
• Perform carpenter duties to maintain, repair and construct a wide variety of structures using wood, other materials, assemblies, drywall and the entire range of construction materials and products.
• Repair and maintain special tools, equipment and accessories.
• Retrieve, report, and communicate on the status of work assignments using administrative, computer and other means of reporting.
• Perform related work as assigned or required.
• Additional duties may be assigned and not included in the above listing.
What Do You Need?
• 3 years’ experience in general construction and maintenance of buildings, facilities and equipment; or
• Completion of a two-year skilled trades vocational or technical school program with a diploma or certification and 1 year of experience in general construction and maintenance of buildings, facilities and equipment.
• Three (3) years of skilled craft or trade experience in the direct line of work; or completion of a two-year skilled trades vocational or technical school program with a diploma or certification and one (1) year of experience in the direct line of work or related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
• Possession and maintenance of a valid State of Florida Driver's License upon hire with eligibility based upon evaluation of a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) driving report.
• Assignment to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations.
