Executive Director - Job Description
REPORTS TO: BOARD OF DIRECTORS
THE SIESTA KEY CHAMBER EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR WILL PROVIDE EXECUTIVE OVERSIGHT FOR  STRATEGIC, OPERATIONAL AND FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE OF THE CHAMBER. HE/SHE WILL  CULTIVATE PARTNERSHIPS WITH THE MEMBERSHIP, SARASOTA CITY AND THE SARASOTA  COUNTY, AS DIRECTED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS. THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR WILL  COORDINATE AND IMPLEMENT THE MANY ACTIVITIES OF THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE  THROUGH VARIOUS COMMITTEES AND WILL SUPERVISE THE WORK OF THE STAFF IN THE  PURSUIT OF MEETING THE CHAMBER’S GOALS AND OBJECTIVES. AS EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR,  HE/SHE WILL REPRESENT THE CHAMBER AND ITS MEMBERSHIP IN ALL INTERACTIONS,  REQUIRING EXECUTIVE PRESENCE FOSTERING STRONG COMMUNITY RELATIONSHIPS. IT IS  THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR TO ENSURE THE CHAMBER IS WORKING  WITHIN THE GUIDELINES OF THE ESTABLISHED BY-LAWS. THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR  REPORTS TO THE CHAMBER BOARD OF DIRECTORS.
Strategic Responsibilities:
1. Execute the Strategic plan as directed by the Chamber Board in order to drive the mission and vision of the Chamber.
2. Identify and develop strategies to improve Siesta Key Commerce and Tourism. Review and update these strategies on a regular basis to determine relevance and effectiveness.
3. Foster partnerships with the other key organizations - with the objective to implement cohesive and comprehensive plans that will promote growth and prosperity in Sarasota County.
4. Provide oversight and assistance to the Chamber Committees ensuring they are working toward the Chamber goals and growth objectives.
5. Recruit and retain Chamber business members by consistently providing value to the membership and the business community at large.
6. Complete regular membership visits, ascertain the status and needs of the members, evaluate the role the Chamber can play to support the individual member’s business.
Develop and execute a marketing plan that supports the following:
Creates member, community and tourist engagement through events, community involvement and promotional activities.
Generates funds to support Chamber infrastructure.
Incorporates the use of technology, marketing and social media to increase presence and awareness of the role of the Chamber.
Administrative/Financial Responsibilities:
1. Prepare a fiscal budget for Chamber Board.
2. Prepare accurate and timely financial records for the Chamber, including but not limited to monthly and annual financial statements, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and tax filings.
3. Maintain expenditures within the framework of the budget.
4. Hire, train, supervise and mentor Chamber Team members. Hold employees accountable for their assigned responsibilities.
5. Oversee the contractual obligations of the Chamber with other entities.
6. Participate in continuing education opportunities to gain knowledge of how other Chamber of Commerce and Visitors centers can continually grow and evolve to meet the changing needs of our community.
7. Prepare monthly board agenda and minutes.
8. Participate as an executive in Chamber committees.
9. Perform other duties assigned or deemed necessary.
Position Requirements:
1. Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field.
2. A t least 3 to 5 years of experience in a Chamber of Commerce or closely related environment (example /business development, sales/ marketing positions.
3. Is a visionary, ability to think strategically to support Chamber mission and vision.
4. Strong communication and public relations skills coupled with the ability to influence others in a positive manner.
5. Demonstrates “executive presence” in all interactions in the community
6. Considerable working knowledge of accounting and finance as they relate to the fiscal and financial obligations of the organization, internal accounting controls and financial analysis of revenues and expenditures.
7. A bility to supervise personnel in a manner conducive to efficient performance, production and high morale.
8. A bility to establish and maintain strong working relationship with others.
9. A bility to present ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Please Note: The preceding qualifications are guidelines. Other combinations of education and experience could provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform this job.
Hours: 40+hrs/week, generally Monday-Friday, 8am to 5pm, and events outside of normal work hours as scheduled.
