DIRECTOR OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND SECURITY

The Salina Public Schools is seeking a proven leader for the position of Director of Information Technology and Security. This position will be responsible for the planning, organizing and management of the district’s information technology and school safety/security program to promote the district’s effectiveness as a learning organization. This position supervises a team of 20+ professional and classified staff.
Responsibilities: (See the attached job description for the full range of functions and responsibilities)
• Providing leadership and technical support for the purpose of designing, developing and maintaining an efficient, unified and fully integrated technology system;
• Coordinating and Supervising the work of multi-disciplinary technical staff;
• Working with the public, private contractors, governmental funding and regulatory agencies;
• Preparing and monitoring technology budgets and controlling project costs and schedules;
• Providing regular updates to the Board of Education and the community;
• Facilitating the development and implementation of crisis plans, safety and security processes and training;
• Ensuring quality and timely technical support for all district staff.
Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
• Work is performed in the office and in school facilities;
• Requires prolonged sitting, standing, or walking;
• May require physical exertion to manually lift, move, carry, pull, or push heavy equipment or materials;
• Requires some travel (driving skills and physical ability to drive a vehicle required);
• Must be able to work in noisy and crowded environments.
Qualifying Education and Experience:
• Required : Bachelor's degree in related field plus 5 years leadershp/supervisory experience
• Preferred: Masters degree in Educational Administration; IT management experience; and/or Crisis management leadership experience.
Qualifying Competencies:
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills;
• Knowledgeable about complex technological systems and programs;
• Good public relations skills;
• Advanced oral and written communication skills;
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
• Ability to work with all employee groups and to be team oriented.
Salary:
• Administrative Salary Schedule: $103,817- $124,024.
• Placement commensurate with education and experience.
• This is a full year/12 month position.
