Position Area: Staff Qualifications Required: Experience in conducting library instruction or teaching in an academic environment; Experience providing information services in an academic, public, or corporate library; Demonstrated success working independently with limited supervision; Experience and/or potential in developing and delivering effective literacy programs across the curriculum; Ability to work in a dynamic student environment and with a diverse student population; Strong interpersonal and written communication skills; Outstanding organizational skills; A focus on student and program success; Experience working in an office environment; Extensive experience with Microsoft Office and Google applications; Additional Considerations: Experience in higher education, student services, or a related field; Experience in a community college setting; Experience using the Springshare platform or similar system; Experience in creating and maintaining online guides, tutorials, websites, and promotional materials; Duties: Delivers online and in-person reference assistance; Develops, coordinates, and delivers online and in-person library instruction at all campus locations; Creates and maintains instructional materials, digital learning objects, and webpages to promote library services and resources; Encourages and maintains collaborative relationship with faculty and staff; Serves as a liaison between the library and academic divisions, campus partners, various database providers, VIVA (Virtual Library of Virginia), and VCCS (Virginia Community College System) libraries; Assists with collection development, including de-selection/weeding; Participates in community outreach and collaborates with regional libraries; Compiles and prepares statistics and reports as requested; Remains current with changing information delivery systems and library issues and trends, especially in information literacy; Provides general assistance with all areas of library operation as needed; Occasional evening and weekend hours; May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
