Senior Systems Engineer

Salary: $50.00 USD Hourly - $75.00 USD Hourly
Description: Position: Senior Systems Engineer
Type : Contract to Hire
Location: This position is Hybrid in Mankato, MN with some travel to other sites in the area
Responsibilities:
• Customer Service: Provide consistent and satisfactory customer service to internal customers and colleagues, operating with a strong sense of accountability and integrity.
• Relationship Building: Build relationships with business, IT customers, and third-party vendors and suppliers.
• Leadership Expectations: Follow the Leadership Expectations and demonstrate capabilities in all interactions.
• Policy Adherence: Follow all IT, Global Infrastructure, and team policies and procedures.
• Safety: Maintain and promote a strong safety culture, follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations, and identify and communicate workplace hazards.
• Collaborate with IT analysts, engineers, and business stakeholders to understand and document business cases and system functions.
• Assist with the design, upgrade, and monitoring of systems.
• Determine hardware requirements to support business systems and processes.
• Document use cases, business requirements, and system requirements.
• Coordinate staging, installation, and configuration of new or upgraded systems.
• Test or coordinate testing for bugs and errors prior to go-live, develop test plans, and document successful completion of testing.
• Create diagrams and process flows to aid in providing infrastructure products and services.
• Maintain platform and project documentation.
• Document issues, enhancement requests, and feedback from internal customers.
• Manage and resolve incidents using ServiceNow.
• Submit and manage Change Requests using ServiceNow.
• Lead or co-lead work efforts to deliver infrastructure services for remote sites, plants, and terminals.
• Utilize project and performance management tools and concepts.
• Prioritize business needs and manage time and resources effectively.
• Procure new gear and hardware using Coupa.
• Use Azure DevOps to manage assigned work efforts and maintain records.
• Engage and manage Smart Hands contractors.
Qualifications:
• Some IT experience as a business systems analyst, infrastructure analyst, or related position, including:
• Experience with infrastructure-centric projects dealing with desktop, server, LAN/WAN, and firewall technologies.
• Experience with firewall, router/switch integration, and implementation.
• Experience in business systems analysis, gathering business and system requirements, writing use cases and test cases, and developing specifications, diagrams, and flowcharts.
• Knowledge of project coordination concepts.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint, Visio, and Teams.
• Experience working as a member of a cross-functional team.
• Demonstrated problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• 2+ years of direct or indirect leadership experience on small to medium-sized enterprise initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Knowledge of performance improvement methodologies like LEAN.
• Knowledge of system and network development methodologies like Agile.
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps.
• Ability to work in a team environment without direct supervision.
• Experience managing or coordinating third-party vendors and suppliers.
• Proven ability to see the big picture while driving work efforts at the detail level.
