About Us
Denver Parks and Recreation is seeking skilled and highly qualified candidates for the position of Recreational Therapist.
This position is responsible for providing inclusion support on a city wide level in the 29 Denver recreation centers by implementing the Therapeutic Recreation process as well as program planning and implementation for people with disabilities.
About Our Job
Endures the delivery of quality recreational therapy services by identifying patients/client needs and developing quality Therapeutic Recreation programs, through knowledge of Therapeutic Recreation principles and practices sufficient to be able to evaluate and treat persons and design therapeutic programs.
Designs and implements therapeutic programs to restore patient function using a variety of physical, cognitive, social, behavioral, emotional and leisure activities.
Instructs patients/clients in various sports, arts, crafts, leisure skills, other recreational activities and community resources to be utilized after discharge.
May assist in the purchasing and maintenance of adaptive equipment and supplies.
General knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act and how it relates to recreation programming and participation.
About You
Baccalaureate Degree supplemented with mandated course work in therapeutic recreation plus required supportive courses.

Test- Matrix Evaluation
Must have a current Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist certification from NCTRC or possess this certification by the completion of the probationary period.
Must posses a current CPR and First Aid certification by the completion of the probationary period.
Completion of the National Defensive Van Driving certification by the completion of the probationary period.
The Denver Department of Parks and Recreation will conduct criminal background checks as part of the hiring process. Successful candidates must be able to successfully complete this criminal background investigation.
