Job duties:
• Provide counsel regarding sexually transmitted infection (STI) details such as symptomatology, diagnostic techniques, recommended treatment, epidemiology, and prevention methods, and medical/technical terminology related to STIs
• Maintain confidentiality by knowing and complying with confidentiality laws, and HIPAA privacy requirements, DIS performance standards and quality assurance for disease monitoring activities. Perform assigned duties in the absence of close supervision.
• Conduct disease intervention investigative activities and perform field visits.
• Collect and analyze medical and epidemiological information to effectively perform STI/HIV intervention activities.
• Identify behavior risks and negotiate STI/HIV risk reduction plans.
• Express ideas clearly, accurately, and concisely. Extract essential information from verbal or written communications.
• Perform motivational interviewing and behavior change counseling to encourage the prevention or intervention of acquiring or transmitting of STIs and/or HIV.
• Acquire and maintain proficiency in the application of program activities such as field phlebotomy/venipuncture and future identified activities.
• Navigate and effectively manage difficult investigations, counseling, and disease intervention situations.
• Perceive and react sensitively to the needs of others.
• Use computers and databases and other technologies to gather, document and enter data.
Minimum and Additional Requirements State Minimum Requirements: A bachelor’s degree and related experience.
