Fitness Coach
Job Summary
Serves the members of the Healthpark by being a resource on the fitness floor and providing member services.
Job Responsibilities
• Develops individualized exercise prescriptions and demonstrates proper exercise execution.
• Performs one on one personal training and small group training.
• Assists with the organization of special programs in the fitness area for the member population.
• Maintains a safe, neat, and organized environment on the fitness center floor by re-racking of weights and putting equipment in proper storage areas.
• Provides blood pressure screenings for members as requested.
• Works with Exercise Is Medicine program participants by conducting assessments, exercise prescriptions, exercise demonstrations, and explanations; maintains weekly contacts, recording of all program data, correct utilization of EPIC chart noting, and participant follow up.
• Performs a variety of sub maximal fitness assessments utilizing existing testing software and interpretation of results for members; develops exercise prescription based upon testing outcomes and member goals and objectives.
• Serves members of the fitness center by being a resource to update and offer suggestions for changes to fitness programs and routines for variety and safety.
• Enforces all policies and rules pertaining to fitness center utilization.
• Develops relationships and gets to know members by rounding on the fitness center floor, talking to members, making them feel welcome, and ensuring a great member experience.
• Assists with special programs on and off site providing expertise and knowledge including speaking engagements, health fairs, biometric screenings, health coaching, or other Healthpark related events.
• Communicates with Fitness Supervisor regarding any malfunctioning equipment to ensure timely repair.
• Provides basic first aid and CPR assistance to members who may experience accidents or medical emergencies.
• Performs supervisory responsibilities in absence of management team onsite during weekends, early morning and/or late evening operating hours.
• Abides by uniform policy for fitness staff and possesses a professional appearance and demeanor while on duty serving members.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Exercise Science required upon hire OR
• Bachelor's degree or higher in related field required upon hire
• A combination of education, training and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
• No experience required
• ACE-CPT - Personal Trainer from National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) required within 9 months of employment in this position OR
• ACSM-CPTC - Certified Personal Trainer from National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) required within 9 months of employment in this position OR
• NASM-CPT - Certified Personal Trainer from National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) required within 9 months of employment in this position OR
• NETA-CPT - Certified Personal Trainer from National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) required within 9 months of employment in this position OR
• NFPT-CPT - Certified Personal Fitness Trainer from National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) required within 9 months of employment in this position OR
• NSCA-CPT - Certified Personal Trainer from National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) required within 9 months of employment in this position OR
• NSCA-CSCS - Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist from National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) required within 9 months of employment in this position OR
• AEA-AFP - Aquatics Fitness Professional from National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) required within 9 months of employment in this position OR
• NCCA - Nationally recognized specialty certification, evidence of training in a given specialty or related NCCA certification may be considered in lieu of currently listed certifications required within 9 months of employment in this position AND
• BLS - Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider required within 90 days of employment in this position AND
• First-aid certification required within 90 days of employment in this position
