FUNCTION
The F&B Cook I is responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of food items in accordance with established recipes and standards. This role ensures high-quality food preparation, adheres to food safety standards, and contributes to the smooth operation of the kitchen. The F&B Cook 1 works as part of the culinary team to deliver exceptional dining experiences for guests at the gaming facility.

• Food Preparation: Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes, portion controls, and presentation standards.
• Kitchen Operations: Assist in the setup and breakdown of cooking stations, ensuring all tools and equipment are cleaned and maintained.
• Food Quality: Monitor and maintain food quality, ensuring consistency and adherence to established standards.
• Safety and Sanitation: Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper handling and storage of ingredients.
• Inventory Management: Assist with receiving, inspecting, and storing kitchen supplies and ingredients, notifying the supervisor of any shortages or discrepancies.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with other kitchen staff to coordinate cooking times and ensure timely delivery of food items.
• Menu Input: Provide feedback to the Executive Chef or Kitchen Manager regarding menu development and new recipe ideas.
• Equipment Use: Operate kitchen equipment safely and report any maintenance needs to the supervisor.
• Problem Resolution: Address any issues related to food preparation or kitchen operations promptly and professionally.
• Compliance: Adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies, including those related to workplace safety.
• Other duties as assigned.
STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Consistent delivery of high-quality food items.
• Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Education, Training, And Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous cooking experience in a high-volume kitchen preferred.
• Knowledge of food preparation techniques, kitchen equipment, and sanitation standards.
• Ability to follow recipes and maintain consistency in food preparation.
• Able to obtain and maintain a valid Kentucky gaming/racing license.
