General Description Under direct supervision of the Information Technology Supervisor, provides support for the City’s computer systems, and collaborates with users and vendors to implement new applications and technologies, and ensures the maintenance of software and hardware systems.
Essential Functions of the Job / Knowledge, Skills and Abilities ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
• Administration of servers, networks, firewalls, security, backups, hardware/software upgrades, and communication systems.
• Support cybersecurity tasks, including user training, monitoring and response, and ongoing improvements.
• Troubleshoot and solve problems employees are experiencing with personal computers, mobile computers, smartphones, video cameras, card readers, software functions, etc. at various City and PUC buildings.
• Setup, install and configure hardware including workstations, printers, scanners, and other related network equipment.
• Setup, install and configure software on workstations and other network components.
• Setup and management of mobile devices; including cell phones and tablets.
• Conduct research and recommend new technology, applications, and hardware.
• Server installations including operating systems and application installations, migrations, and upgrades.
• Assists with report writing, data analysis, and Voice-over-IP (VOIP) telephone system.
• Provide end-user training and maintain documentation.
• Maintain inventory of hardware, software, and supplies.
• May be required to be assigned to on-call status.
• Attendance during regularly scheduled work hours and outside regular work hours as necessary.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA’s)
• Proficient in Microsoft Windows Server 2016 and above, enterprise networking, firewalls, SCADA, IP communications and above.
• Knowledgeable in Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Microsoft SQL Server, server virtualization, and VOIP.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with PC hardware, software, servers, networking, and communications equipment.
• Motivated to assist other employees with technical problems with kindness, empathy, and positivity.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity and/or information security.
• Ability to move, set-up, and install computers and related equipment in confined spaces.
• Ability to exercise good judgment and act independently while performing required tasks.
• Must be innovative and self-motivated.
• Familiarity with Minnesota Data Practices statutes.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors, individuals from other organizations, and other customers.
Education and Experience • Associates/Technical degree in computer related field or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• One to three years of relevant experience preferred.
