Position Overview
We are currently seeking a qualified and compassionate Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) to join our team. This position will involve working with K-12 students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), supporting their communication and social skills development. The SLPA will collaborate closely with licensed Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) and other educational professionals to deliver high-quality services.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist SLPs in the implementation of therapy plans and activities tailored to the needs of students with ASD.
• Conduct individual and group sessions to support communication, language, and social skills development.
• Monitor and document student progress, providing feedback to the supervising SLP and adjusting activities as needed.
• Collaborate with teachers and parents to integrate speech and language goals into the classroom and home environments.
• Support classroom integration of communication tools and strategies.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of sessions and student progress.
Qualifications
• Bachelors Degree in Speech-Language Pathology Assisting or a related field
• State Certification as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) in CA
• Experience working with children, preferably with ASD or other developmental disabilities
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment
• Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with children with special needs
