Job Summary
IMI is seeking a full-time Purchasing Assistant local to the Athens, GA area.
Essential Functions
The Purchasing Assistant will be responsible for supporting the company's procurement process by placing orders with vendors, tracking shipments, managing inventory levels, and maintaining relationships with suppliers, ensuring timely delivery of goods and services at the best possible price.
• Complete purchase of parts and services as directed by Purchasing Manager.
• Follow up with vendors ensuring that shipments are received timely.
• Consider price, quality, availability, reliability, and technical support when choosing suppliers and merchandise.
• Act as liaison between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments, and customers.
• Maintain and update purchasing records. Including purchase orders and shipping schedules.
• Upon receipt of deliveries, validate goods meet specification. Distribute items as necessary.
• Assist with conducting material take-offs as directed
• Deliver materials/parts to customers as needed.
• Additional responsibilities as needed.
Education and Experience
• Must be detail oriented and have the ability to multi-task. Requires flexibility to adapt to frequent shifts in priorities, depending on the demands of the day.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong ability to learn and listen, adapting to customer needs and feedback.
• Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
• Computer experience, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Excel, Project, and Outlook.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
• Sitting for extended periods of time.
• Use arms and hands to reach for, handle, or manipulate objects.
• Lift and carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds; occasionally lift items weighing more than 25 pounds with assistance.
• Manual dexterity needed for repetitive tasks and operating standard office equipment.
