Qualifications
• Education:
• Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Masters degree in Special Education (preferred).
• Licensure and Certification:
• Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) CertificationinSpecial Education (General Curriculum)orSpecial Education (Adapted Curriculum)depending on the focus area.
• ValidGaPSC Special Education Certificationfor the grade level(s) being taught (K-12).
• Clear, Renewable Georgia Educator Certificatein the appropriate area of special education.
• Criminal Background Checkthrough the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) (required).
• First Aid/CPR Certification(preferred but not required).
• Experience:
• Previous experience working with students with disabilities, preferably in a school setting.
• Familiarity with Georgias special education regulations, laws, and best practices.
• Experience developing and implementing IEPs, as well as working in collaborative, interdisciplinary teams.
• Skills and Abilities:
• Strong classroom management skills, with the ability to create a structured, positive learning environment.

Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our school. The Special Education Teacher will work with students who have a range of disabilities, including physical, learning, emotional, and developmental challenges. This role involves creating and delivering individualized educational plans (IEPs), fostering an inclusive classroom environment, and collaborating with other school staff, parents, and specialists to ensure student success.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities, ensuring they meet academic, social, and emotional needs.
• Provide specialized instruction and support to students with disabilities in a variety of settings, including inclusive classrooms, small groups, and one-on-one.
• Adapt curriculum materials to meet the diverse needs of students, using specialized teaching techniques and accommodations as outlined in the IEPs.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, counselors, school psychologists, and other support staff to ensure the delivery of a well-rounded educational experience for all students.
• Provide direct instruction and support to students in areas such as reading, math, social skills, and behavioral management.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records, including progress reports, IEP documentation, and assessments.
• Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and school-wide activities to engage with students and families.
• Implement behavioral interventions and strategies to support students in achieving their IEP goals and promoting positive behavior in the classroom.
• Stay informed of best practices, special education laws, and regulations related to students with disabilities.
