Job Summary
Receives and interviews patients to collect and verify pertinent demographic and financial data. Verifies insurance and initiates pre authorization process when required. Collects required payments or makes necessary financial arrangements. Acts as a patient greeter/liaison for all patients and family members upon entry into the patient care environment. Assists and supports radiologists, physicians and imaging technologists with patient flow, communication and report management as needed. Adheres to standards for proper distribution of patient information to meet compliance and regulatory requirements. Essential Functions

• Receives payments and issues receipts, actively working toward collection goals. Maintains cash funds/verification logs andmakes daily deposits according to departmental policies and procedures. Communicates to patients their estimated financial responsibility. Requests payment prior to or at the time of service. Referspatients who may need extended terms to the Medical Services Payment Program and patients needing financial assistanceto appropriate program.
• Interviews patient or other source (in accordance with HIPAA Guidelines) to secure information relative to financial status,demographic data and employment information. Enters accurate information into computer database, accesses Sovera toensure the most recent insurance card is on file, and scans documents according to departmental guidelines. Follows up forincomplete and missing information. -
• Verifies insurance coverage/benefits utilizing online eligibility or by telephone inquiry to the employer and/or third partypayor. Information obtained through insurance verification must always be documented in the system. Assigns appropriateinsurance plan from the third-party database; ensures insurance priorities are correct based on third-party requirements/COB. Initiates pre-certification process as required according to Departmental Guidelines; obtains signed waiver for caseswhere pre-certification is required but not yet obtained.
• Obtains necessary signatures and other information on appropriate forms and documents as required including, but notlimited to, Consent Form, Liability Assignment, and Waiver Letter.
• Prepares and distributes appropriate reports, documents, and patient identification items as required. This includes, but is notlimited to, Privacy Notice, Patient Rights and Responsibilities, Patient Rights in Healthcare Decisions Brochure, MedicareBooklet, schedules, productivity logs, monthly collection reports, patient armbands, patient valuables, etc.
• Ensures that all patients are consistently informed regarding their wait times throughout their visit to ensure a positive patient experience
• Accurately schedules patients for Imaging exams.
• Ensures accuracy of physician orders and account information prior to patient check-in. Performs order entry with scanning of support documents.
• Assists patients with completing history and screening forms prior to exams. Review these for completeness and get input from physicians/technologists if needed to ensure patient flow is maintained.
• Provides images and reports to healthcare provider and/or patient. Manages outside images to include importing outside images into PACS system.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory/Management Responsibilities
• This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.
Minimum Requirements
• Education - High School Diploma or equivalent or post high school education
• Experience - One (1) admissions, imaging and/or customer service

• Basic computer skills
• Knowledge of office equipment (fax/copier)
• Word Processing, spreadsheet, database, data entryskills
• Mathematical skills
• Knowledgeable in all scheduling, admissions and radiology information functions.
• Registration and scheduling experience- Preferred
• Familiarity with medical terminology- Preferred
