Summary:
The Deputy Program Director will be covering aluminum smelter and recycling projects and will assist the Program Director in ensuring the successful operational execution of the program by translating strategic goals into actionable plans. The role provides technical oversight, resolves escalated challenges, and drives program delivery in alignment with timelines, budgets, and quality standards. Acting as a bridge between strategic leadership and project teams, the Deputy Program Director fosters collaboration among stakeholders, contractors, and internal teams to achieve program objectives effectively.
Purpose:
• Support the Program Director in delivering the project requirements.
• Provide leadership to project teams and ensure adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
• Manage resources effectively and ensure timely delivery of project objectives.
Responsibilities:
1. Manages:
• Assist the Program Director in creating and implementing project plans, schedules, and budgets to ensure successful delivery.
• Track the progress of project activities, identifying potential risks, deviations, and implementing mitigation strategies as required.
• Manage adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory standards throughout the project lifecycle.
• Oversee the allocation and management of resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, ensuring optimal utilization.
• Direct teams and contractors to execute project changes through formalized change management processes to maintain project scope and alignment.
2. Team Leadership:
• Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to project teams, fostering alignment with program objectives and ensuring high performance.
• Foster a collaborative and productive working environment, encouraging open communication and teamwork across all levels.
• Identify skills gaps within teams and support professional development through training, coaching, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
• Inspire and motivate teams to achieve project milestones and deliverables while maintaining a high standard of quality and safety.
• Address team challenges and resolve conflicts effectively to ensure project progress remains uninterrupted and team morale stays high.
• Set clear expectations for roles and responsibilities, ensuring individuals and teams take ownership of tasks and deliver results on time.
3. Standards:
• Ensure the implementation of company and industry standards across all project phases.
• Regularly review existing standards and processes, providing constructive recommendations for updates and improvements.
• Ensure standards are effectively applied and adhered to by all project teams and contractors.
• Promote consistency in project execution by aligning teams with approved standards and best practices.
4. Leadership:
• Serve as a role model, demonstrating strong leadership behaviors and setting high performance standards for the team.
• Challenge and mentor team members to grow as leaders, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
• Identify opportunities for improvement, lead innovative change initiatives, and ensure their effective implementation.
• Motivate teams to achieve program goals through clear direction, support, and recognition of achievements.
• Effectively lead teams through change processes, ensuring smooth transitions and alignment with program objectives.
5. Stakeholder Engagement:
• Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders, including EPCM partners, contractors, suppliers, and regulatory bodies, ensuring alignment with program objectives.
• Provide clear, timely, and transparent communication on project status, risks, and resolutions to stakeholders.
• Ensure stakeholder expectations are aligned with project goals, timelines, and deliverables while addressing concerns proactively.
• Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to foster a collaborative environment and resolve issues efficiently.
• Regularly update stakeholders on project progress, challenges, and key milestones to maintain trust and transparency.
6. Resource Management:
• Allocate and manage project resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to ensure optimal utilization and project efficiency.
• Monitor and evaluate resource usage, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Collaborate with project teams to forecast resource needs and address gaps to meet project demands and timelines.
• Oversee contractors and project teams, ensuring resources are effectively deployed and aligned with project goals.
• Track resource performance, ensuring alignment with safety, quality, and program objectives while addressing any inefficiencies.
7. Risk Management:
• Proactively identify and assess potential risks across all phases of the program, including cost, schedule, quality, and safety.
• Create and implement effective risk mitigation strategies to minimize the impact of identified risks on program outcomes.
• Continuously monitor risk status and provide regular updates to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and timely decision-making.
• Escalate high-impact risks to the Program Director for strategic intervention when necessary.
• Ensure that risk management processes and controls are embedded into day-to-day project execution to prevent disruptions.
8. Quality Assurance:
• Ensure all project deliverables meet or exceed client and industry quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.
• Oversee the implementation of quality control processes, procedures, and inspections to maintain consistent standards.
• Monitor and conduct regular quality audits, reviews, and inspections to identify and address deviations.
• Identify opportunities to improve quality performance and implement corrective actions to enhance overall program outcomes.
• Ensure contractors and suppliers adhere to established quality requirements and specifications.

What you will bring
Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, project management, or a related field.
• 15 years of experience in construction, engineering design, or project management within an industrial background.
• PMP or equivalent project management certification.
Preferred:
• Master’s degree in engineering, project management, or a related field.
