Job Description
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Membership Director intentionally fosters a cause-centered culture that is welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing, and determined.
Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. YMCA Team Leader certification preferred.
3. Previous supervisory experience in customer service preferred.
4. Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software.
5. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
6. Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.
7. Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
8. CPR and First Aid certifications may be required.
Essential Functions
1. Works closely with and follows the direction of the Branch Executive Director to ensure exceptional delivery of programs and services to members and participants.
2. Effectively plans and executes strategies that support member retention and engagement; ensuring that membership retention goals are met. Fosters a climate of innovation.
3. Promotes program and membership enrollment. Coordinates program registration, including logistics to support phone, walk-in, and web registration. Coordinates with marketing efforts to maximize enrollments and provides ongoing support to Program Directors on related issues.
4. Oversees the recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, development and supervision of the Assistant Membership Director, and member services, housekeeping and childwatch staff.
5. Leads and develops staff to create a member-focused culture and models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Resolves problems to ensure member satisfaction.
6. Participates in the planning of the annual budget; manages and implements the approved budget for membership and takes appropriate action to correct variances.
7. Responsible for some administrative duties and reporting around membership data, finances, renewals, terminations and data clean up.
8. Reports monthly membership metrics and explains variances. Creates new strategies to increase/exceed goals.
9. Responsible for assisting with annual campaigns and articulating to members/community to increase awareness and participation.
10. Performs other duties as assigned.
