In your role, you help manage flooding, improve water quality, and maintain stormwater infrastructure through planning, design, and monitoring to ensure wildlife, the environment, and citizens have resilient and sustainable communities. • Coordinate watershed model updates, planning activities, and ensuring compliance.
• Incorporate recent development projects into the County’s Record Watershed Model.
• Coordinate with GIS Staff to maintain the County’s GIS database to be consistent with the Record Model.
• Provide support for stormwater operations and maintenance projects activities.
• Maintain floodplain delineations, and level of service, and assess alternatives to address problem areas.
• Review site development permit applications for Land Development Services (LDS) and County capital improvement projects for consistency with the Unified Development Code (UDC) and Watershed model(s).
• Provide written comments to LDS (using LIMS) or to the County project manager relative to any inconsistencies.
Work Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
About You
Minimum Qualifications:
Technical Specialist I:
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Civil Engineering or related engineering field.
• -OR- An equivalent combination of education and experience or technical, engineering-related project experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the degree.
• Valid Florida driver's license at the time of hire.
Technical Specialist II:
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Civil Engineering or related engineering field AND two (2) years of professional civil engineering experience.
• -OR- a Master’s Degree in a related field AND one year of professional civil engineering experience.
• -OR- An equivalent combination of education and experience or technical, engineering-related project experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the degree.
• Must be able to obtain a valid EIT (Engineer in Training) certification granted by the Florida Board of Engineers within twelve (12) months of hire.
• Valid Florida driver's license at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience or certified training with hydrodynamic modeling such as ICPR and ArcGIS (ArcMap).
• Knowledge of Hydrology, hydraulics, water quality, and AutoCAD.
• Prior related engineering work experience, engineering internship, or Engineer-in-Training certificate granted by the Florida Board of Professional Engineers.
About Everything Else
Technical Specialist I:
Starting Pay Range: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00, based on experience
Technical Specialist II:
Starting Pay Range: $63,000.00 - $73,000.00 , based on experience
