Duties/Responsibilities
Duties/Responsibilities
Prepare walls and other surfaces for painting by scraping using sandpaper, removing old paint, etc.

Fill cracks and holes with appropriate material.

Clean and prep all materials for painting.

Apply paint by spraying and/or rolling and/or using a brush.

Assist other skilled tradesmen and perform related work as required.

This position is responsible for preparation and paint related work on Campus facilities including determining painting needs, color blending and matching and sequences of painting operations and method. Employee functions will include maintaining tool and equipment, paint stock and proper paint disposal. Assignments are received in writing and orally and work is performed under general direction from supervisor. Work is reviewed through inspection while in progress and upon completion. The position will be required to perform other functions related to the general activities in facilities operation and maintenance.
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification In Position
Candidate will have verifiable skills as a painter. Candidate will understand paint required for various applications both interior and exterior. Candidate will have knowledge of equipment required for paint preparation and application. Candidate will have knowledge of methods of equipment maintenance. Candidate will have general knowledge of use of hand and power tools related to general facility maintenance, upkeep and repair.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And/or Competencies
Thorough knowledge of the standard methods, equipment, materials, tools and practices of the painting trade.
Considerable knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
Ability to successfully manage hazardous waste satellite facility.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in writing and orally.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and university personnel.
Skilled in the use of standard tools and equipment of the trade.
Ability to lift and carry 45 pounds.
Physical Demands
Use hands to reach and handle tools and objects; climb ladders and scaffolds; work from heights; lift up to 40 pounds; drive fork lift and vehicles.
