About The College/Unit/Department
The School of Computing (SoC) is a growing and congenial school of 45 faculty within the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Engineering. The SoC has nearly 1900 undergraduate students, and 260 graduate students, and offers the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science, B.S. and MS degrees in Data Science, and an M.S. degree in Cybersecurity and Privacy. The school also contributes to a number of other programs on campus, like M.S and Ph.D degrees in Artificial Intelligence (AI), B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), and B.A. in Cognitive Science. The teaching load allows for substantial concentration on research. In addition to the areas in which we are recruiting, our faculty cover a broad range of research interests, including Algorithms, Artificial Intelligence (broadly defined to also include computer vision and robotics), Bioinformatics, Human Computer Interaction, Computer Security and Privacy, Computational Science, and Computer Systems (including parallel, distributed, embedded, real-time, and high-performance computing). Position Summary
The School of Computing at the University of Georgia invites applications for a UGA Athletic Association Professor position starting August 2025.
With this position, the school is looking to recruit an internationally renowned researcher and educator. We are interested in background in Data/information/scientific visualization or related areas like Computer Graphics, Human Computer Interfaces (HCI), or Natural Language Processing/Interfaces.
This position is part of a new cluster that includes School of Computing, School of Arts, Department of Theatre and Film Studies, and the English Department. As the senior anchor position within the cluster, it is expected that the candidate takes leadership in the development of a multidisciplinary research agenda and academic programming, to include new degree programs.
Additional Requirements
Applicants should have at least 12 years of Professional Experience conducting computing research and education.
To be eligible for tenure upon appointment, candidates must have been tenured at a prior institution and bring a demonstrated national reputation to UGA. Candidates must be approved for tenure upon appointment before hire. Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, And/or Certification
The candidate should have a strong record of high-quality and impactful publications, significant extramural research funding, and mentoring of graduate students and related contributions, that would merit appointment as a tenured professor at University of Georgia.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And/or Competencies
A track record of multidisciplinary research and developing academic programing or other forms of curriculum development is expected. Additionally, the person should have demonstrated strength in academic innovation and strong interest in computing pedagogy.
