Position Summary
The Simon S. Selig, Jr. Center for Economic Growth invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track, non-instructional faculty position. This position will serve as a Public Service Assistant in the Simon J. Selig Center for Economic Growth, Terry College of Business, University of Georgia, located in Athens, GA. The main responsibilities include obtaining externally funded contracts and grants and conducting economic and demographic research related to Georgia’s current and future economic growth. In addition, the person in this position will supervise the center’s Research Professional III and the center’s student workers, prepare written reports, make oral presentations (speeches), perform administrative tasks at the direction of the center’s Director, and perform other duties as required. This is a non-instructional faculty position.

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, And/or Certification
At least three years of experience working as an economic analyst is preferred. In addition, a terminal Degree (PhD) in economics, applied economics, or regional economics is preferred.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And/or Competencies
• Ability to conduct applied economic and demographic research related to Georgia’s current and future growth.
• Ability to secure externally funded contracts/grants.
• Ability to make written and oral presentations to clients, business leaders, the media, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and analysts.
• Ability to work effectively with the center’s staff, manage the center’s Research Professional III position, manage student workers, and perform other administrative matters related to the center’s operation.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting.

The Main Responsibilities Include
• Obtaining externally funded contracts and grants and conducting economic and demographic research related to Georgia’s current and future growth.
• The identification of new research/contract/grant opportunities, including meeting with potential clients and writing grant proposals for external funding.
• Plan and execute all aspects of large and small research projects, including proposal preparation, budgeting, research design, research execution, analysis, writing draft and final reports (sometimes as the sole author and sometimes as co-author), representing the Selig Center at meetings with clients, and making formal oral presentations of the research results/findings.
• Provide economic expertise and commentary to business leaders, the media, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations.
• Perform administrative tasks as assigned by the center’s Director, including management of the center’s Research Professional III and student workers.
