Position Summary
The School of Social Work invites applications for a non-tenure track Lecturer position to serve as the Director of our Master of Arts in Nonprofit Management and Leadership (MA NML) program. This is a fiscal year (12-month) position responsible for the overseeing of all aspects of the MA NML program at the School. The Master of Arts in Nonprofit Management and Leadership (MA NML) is an advanced professional degree for those desiring careers as leaders of nonprofit organizations. The curriculum includes both coursework and internships covering a range of fundamental topics including fundraising, financial administration, volunteer management, grant proposal writing and fundamental theories regarding the role of nonprofit in society. The program director of MA NML ensures that it contributes to fulfilling the mission and goals of the program, the School of Social Work, and the University of Georgia. The director of MA NML guides its strategic planning, refines and updates its curriculum, oversees a certificate program, and develops and manages continuing education opportunities.
Chartered in 1785, the University of Georgia in Athens is a Carnegie RU/VH university, and the state’s flagship institution of higher education. The School of Social Work provides professional education to over 500 students through its CSWE–accredited B.S.W. and M.S.W. programs, Ph.D. program, as well as the Master of Nonprofit Management and Leadership. The School of Social Work also offers joint M.S.W. degree programs with the School of Law, the College of Public Health, and the Emory University Candler School of Theology. The School of Social Work is nationally and internationally known for excellence in research, teaching, public service, international programs, and a commitment to social and economic justice. The MA NML Director may also become the director of our Institute for Nonprofit Organizations. The Institute was created in response to trends in the U.S. economy and public policy that underscored the need for more effective leaders, managers and professional staff throughout the nonprofit sector.
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to, MA NML program administration, including student recruitment, admission, and advisement; curriculum leadership; teaching a range of MA NML and MSW classes across curricula; scholarship; and university, school, and community service.

At least two years of post-master’s leadership experience is strongly preferred. Competitive candidates will have a background that includes student-centered pedagogy, engaged learning, distance teaching, and course development.
