ABOUT THE SCHOOL OF COMPUTING
The School of Computing (SoC) is a growing and congenial school of 45 faculty jointly administered by the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Engineering. The SoC has nearly 1900 undergraduate majors, 260 graduate students, and another 500 students pursuing minor or one of the three certificates in applied data science, computing, and security and privacy. It offers the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science, B.S. and MS degrees in Data Science, and an M.S. degree in Cybersecurity and Privacy. The school also contributes to a number of other programs on campus, like M.S and Ph.D degrees in Artificial Intelligence (AI), B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), and B.A. in Cognitive Science. In addition to the areas in which we are recruiting, our faculty cover a broad range of research interests, including Algorithms, Artificial Intelligence (broadly defined to also include computer vision and robotics), Bioinformatics, Human Computer Interaction, Computer Security and Privacy, Computational Science, and Computer Systems (including parallel, distributed, embedded, real-time, and high-performance computing). About The College Of Engineering
Faculty hired as part of this initiative will join a rapidly-growing College of Engineering that combines interdisciplinary research and scholarship with excellent instruction and service. The UGA College of Engineering currently enrolls over 3,000 engineering majors and has 104 full-time engineering faculty across 15 degrees. The college also jointly administers the School of Computing in collaboration with the UGA Franklin College of Arts and Sciences. The College of Engineering is comprised for four interdisciplinary schools: the School of Chemical, Materials, and Biomedical Engineering ; School of Electrical and Computer Engineering ; School of Environmental, Civil, Agricultural, and Mechanical Engineering ; and School of Computing . The Franklin College of Art and Science is the oldest and large college at the University of Georgia, comprising of 30 Academic Departments, 8 Institutes and more than 12,000 students pursue one of more than 80 degrees offered by the College.

Position Summary
The College of Engineering at the University of Georgia invites applications for one position with expertise in Computing for Cyber Physical Systems.
This position seeks to identify highly qualified candidates with expertise in Computing research applicable to Cyber Physical Systems. With this position, we aim to hire a researcher who can address one or more of the inter-dependent and overlapping issues associated on software aspects of cyber-physical systems. These issues include safety (including safety of AI-enabled cyber-physical systems), dependability, real-time processing, and the needs associated with the use of sensors, such as: sensor systems, sensor networking, and sensor data processing and management. Such a researcher will be expected to contribute to major College of Engineering and University of Georgia thrusts and investments in areas like e-mobility, manufacturing, health, and others, where most of the modern and emerging systems are cyber-physical systems. This position will be centered in the College of Engineering and Franklin College of Arts and Sciences co-administered School of Computing (SoC) and will be supervised by the Director of SoC.
This tenured or tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level will start on August 1, 2025, and will be an academic-year appointment (9 months) with an opportunity to supplement salary during the summer. The new faculty member will be expected to develop a vigorous, high-impact, externally funded research program, work closely with existing faculty, effectively mentor graduate students, effectively support our teaching mission at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and be involved in service for the School, College, and/or the University and the profession.
Additional Requirements
Applicants for an Assistant Professor should hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related field with a strong record of high-quality publications.
A candidate at the Associate Professor rank should be a recognized national scholar with at least 6 years of relevant experience, including an outstanding record of significant extramural research funding, publications in high-impact journals and conference proceedings, and mentoring of graduate students.
For an Associate Professor level hire to be eligible for tenure upon appointment, candidates must have been tenured at a prior institution and must have an established demonstrable national reputation for research. Candidates must be approved for tenure upon appointment before hire. Please see the requirements for the Associate Professor rank in the unit criteria for promotion and tenure .
