About The College/Unit/Department
The Institute for Women’s Studies (iws.uga.edu) provides a feminist, intersectional, and interdisciplinary perspective on women and gender. Major areas of strength and growth include Black feminisms; transnational feminisms; gender, environment, medicine, and science; and women’s leadership. Administratively a program in the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences, IWS cooperates with departments of all schools and colleges at UGA in developing its curriculum and programming. IWS offers an undergraduate major, minor, and LGBTQ certificate as well as a graduate certificate.

Position Summary
The University of Georgia (UGA) Institute for Women’s Studies invites applications for the position of Programming and Publicity Director and Academic Professional Associate. This is a full-time, twelve-month, non-tenure-track faculty position with administrative and instructional duties. Anticipated start date is August 1, 2025. Applicants must have their PhD in Women’s and Gender Studies or a related field conferred by July 30, 2025.
The Programming and Publicity Director’s responsibilities include planning and coordinating academic events and public-facing programs for the campus and local community; representing IWS at internal and external functions; directing communications and developing print materials and online content promoting IWS and our activities on campus and beyond; working with the director, faculty, and others across the university to develop grant proposals; and assisting the director on fundraising and development. The P&P Director also will teach undergraduate and possibly graduate courses related to their specializations and the curricular needs of the unit. The teaching load is two courses per calendar year.
Additional Requirements
• At least one year of experience in program planning or administration.
• At least one year of experience in graphic design and web management.
• Prior instruction of at least two university-level courses.
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
• Proven record of teaching effectiveness.
• Record of working with diverse communities through outreach, public-facing scholarship, or programming.
• Grant writing or grant management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and Mailchimp.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact with others in a professional, personable, and courteous manner.
• Attention to detail; organization and time-management skills and ability to take initiative and meet deadlines.
