Contribute to the development of genetically fixed root-knot nematode resistant peanut lineages based on elite germplasm from the Southeast
Percentage of time 25 Duties/Responsibilities
Genome and transcriptome shock analysis in the synthetic allotetraploid BatSten1

Confirmation of root-knot nematode resistance in peanut advance backcrossed lines using invitro bioassays

Evaluation of root-knot nematode resistance in peanut advance backcrossed lines through field testing

This Postdoctoral Associate AD role in the UGA Wild Peanut lab works on projects funded by the Peanut Industry for the improvement of peanut using wild species, classic and advanced genetics. Some of the tasks are: segregating population SNP genotyping projects, requencing, marker-assisted selection, field-based plant evaluation, greenhouse plant pollination.
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification In Position
PhD degree. Areas: genetics, genomics, bioinformatics, plant breeding, biology or related field.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And/or Competencies
Advanced critical assessment ability, English oral and writing proficiency; teamwork.
The ideal candidate possesses independence and flexibility to work in various environments: laboratory, greenhouse and field.
Knowledge in plant pathology/plant-pathogen interactions, plant genetics, fungal genetics, genomics.
Bioinformatics/statistical skills are highly desired as is a good publication track record.
Physical Demands
Lifting up to 25 lbs. Research conducted in various temperatures in both the greenhouse and field.
