A fully funded M.S. graduate student position is available at the Department of Horticulture at the University of Georgia-Tifton Campus at the Small Fruit and Postharvest Physiology Programs led by Dr. Rubio and Dr. Deltsidis. The selected candidate will conduct research on blackberry production and postharvest quality. The position is set to start in the Spring of 2025 and includes a two-year tuition waiver, competitive stipend, and benefits. The candidate chosen for the position will have the opportunity to grow the necessary skills in the field as well as gain outreach/extension experiences, and overall professional development relevant to future careers in the industry and academia
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification In Position
Candidates should have a B.S. degree in agronomy, horticulture, plant physiology, or a related discipline. B.S. with experience in plant and postharvest physiology and research is preferred
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And/or Competencies
A basic understanding of project design, data entry, statistical analysis, and technical writing is required. Knowledge of plant and postharvest physiology is preferable. Interested candidates should be open to learning new skills, have a positive attitude, and a strong work ethic. A willingness to work outdoors in high heat and humidity conditions is expected.
Physical Demands
Bending, lifting up to fifty pounds, working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Driving.
