Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in Geography, Climate-, Environmental-, Atmospheric-, or Earth Sciences, or a related field from an accredited institution.
Position Summary
The Department of Geography at the University of Georgia seeks an interdisciplinary scholar whose work links the hydrologic cycle to earth surface processes with a focus on natural hazards. The candidate will engage research and instruction in areas that might include physical geography, hydrology, earth system hazards (e.g., floods, droughts, landslides, hurricanes), risk and vulnerability. The successful candidate is expected to develop and maintain a strong externally funded research program. The successful candidate is also expected to teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels and support instructional needs in physical geography, our growing atmospheric sciences program, emerging climate certificate efforts, and future online graduate offerings.
This tenure-track position starts on August 1, 2025, and is an academic year appointment (9 months) with opportunities to supplement salary during the summer. Please see the requirements for Assistant Professors in the Unit Criteria for Promotion and Tenure for the Department of Geography .
