Duties/Responsibilities
Duties/Responsibilities
• Serve food at the dining hall
• Set up serving lines and prepare individual trays
• Interact with customers from young children to adults
Percentage of time 35 Duties/Responsibilities
• Cleaning and sanitizing the work area
• Operate a commercial dishwasher
• Clean chairs, tables, and service lines
• Sweep and mop floors
• Clean windows, baseboards, blinds; walkways and walls of food service building

• Assist cooks in preparing and cooking food
• Assist with preparation of menu items

• Work involves routine food preparation, food service and cleaning the food service and eating areas.
• Employees work under direct supervision while involved in the preparation, serving and cleaning.
• Employee follows written and/or oral procedures and practices especially as related to safety and food safety.
• Employee implements procedures, methods, and activities developed by others.
• This position reports to the 4-H Dining Commons Manager.
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
• Plan and organize routine work details and ability to follow receiving and carrying out written and oral directions.
• Reading, writing, and simple math.
• Follow a recipe.
• Good communication skills that contribute to a positive work environment.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Operate commercial grade dishwasher, standard kitchen equipment, ovens, and stoves.
• Handle knives and other sharp items in a safe manner.
Physical Demands
• Bending at the waist and knees
• Lifting and moving items weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Standing for prolonged periods of time, and working with arms and hands overhead.
• Work in and around heat of kitchen and appliances in use, and in cold coolers/freezers when storing and retrieving stock.
