Job Responsibilities Perform tests on equipment needed for annual inspections of all signals in District 3. Assists with all installation, repair, or replacement of traffic signal communications equipment. Responds to complaints and concerns during normal business hours. Aid signal programmer with setup, making changes, and troubleshooting cabinets and controllers. Acts as 24/7 on-call technician in weekly rotation working nights, weekends and holidays. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum and Additional Requirements A high school diploma and one (1) year of related work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence. A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required. Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.
The physical demands for the essential functions of this position involve bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, grasping and physically manipulating objects of varying size, shape, weight, and material. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. This position requires driving for extended periods, walking, treading rough and uneven terrain, and working in close proximity to motoring traffic and natural environmental hazards. May be subject to a certain degree of risk working with electrical currents. May be required to work outside of normal work schedule, especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental-related emergencies. Frequently exposed to outside environment in all weather conditions and noise on a daily basis. Employee must be able to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time. Must be able to stoop, kneel, squat, crouch, or crawl while performing work related duties. Employee must be able to life, carry, push or pull, up to 80 lbs. must be able to climb in and out of bucket trucks or other vehicles. Must be able to perform work on signals and lighting at heights from 5-65ft while operating a bucket. Works outside in heavy traffic in all weather conditions. Subject to dust, excessive noise, and traffic hazards for extended periods of time. Some overnight travel may be required for classes facilitated by SC.
