About the Position
The Senior Network Security Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring the security and integrity of the County's network infrastructure. This role requires a deep understanding of network technologies and security protocols and a strong ability to design, implement, and manage security measures to protect against cyber threats.
As our Senior Network Security Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, implementing, managing, and maintaining security measures and protocols necessary to protect our network infrastructure from cyber threats and vulnerabilities. This includes network access control implementation and support, network device security, firewall maintenance, VPN remote access, and IPSec tunnel creation and troubleshooting on the WAN/LAN and wireless networks. You will work closely with other IT and security teams to design and maintain a robust network security posture.

We Require
• Five years experience in designing, implementing, and managing network security solutions; experience with Access and Identity Control policies and implementations
• Two years of experience with firewalls (Preferably Palo Alto), network access control (NAC) and VPN technologies
• Experiencein Enterprise LAN/WAN topologies, switches, routers, and wireless
• Bachelor'sdegree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
• An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis

• Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNPA) Enterprise or higher

Job Contributions
• Design, implement, and maintain network security architecture to safeguard the organization's network infrastructure.Configure and manage firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDPS), VPNs, and other security devices
• Ensure proper segmentation and isolation of network resources to minimize attack surface
• Develop and enforce network security policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance with industry regulations and best practices
• Implement access controls, user authentication, and authorization mechanisms. Manage access to network resources, including role-based access control (RBAC) and privilege management
• Participate in network penetration testing efforts and review results; manage the implementation of corrective security action when appropriate.
• Keep network devices and security software up to date with the latest patches and updates. Test and apply patches in a controlled manner to minimize disruptions
• Maintain detailed documentation of network security configurations and incidents
• Participate in triaging all critical incidents and problems where the network is involved; act with an appropriate sense of urgency to ensure critical issues are resolved in accordance with applicable SLA's; collaborate with the Information Security team to address any incidents or events where network security may have been compromised
Working Conditions
• This work is performed in a general office/remote work environment and may require workingoutside of regularly scheduled hours when resolving service-impacting incidents. This role provides 24 X 7 on-call support as part of a rotation within the team. This position may require travel to and from job-related locations, subject to County policies regarding the use of County vehicles and/or private vehicles used on County business
