Job Summary Responsible for all laboratory functions within the system. Coordinates all activities with the Vice President of Ancillary Services, Laboratory Medical Director, and the Manager of Laboratory Operations. Uses sound business judgment and clinical management strategies to maintain and improve quality and meet established financial goals. Develops, implements, and communicates a system-wide plan for the Laboratory that aligns and supports the goals and mission of the organization. # Job Responsibilities Maintains knowledge of the Laboratory Information System and other Laboratory computer software. Researches for new and best practices related to equipment and ensures proper communication and instruction with all stakeholders. Helps determine which third-party Laboratory services to use and maintains that it meets Owensboro Health quality standards. Monitors billable test volumes, revenue, revenue per test, and expense per test. Develops and maintains physician, patient, and interdepartmental relationships. Maintains knowledge of regulatory accreditation requirements and compliance resources (TJC, DPH, CLIA, AABB). Develops system and outreach quality planning and improvement programs. Responsible for oversight of laboratory operational, growth, project and financial strategic planning for the system. Designs and implements special project planning (LEAN, VAT, Test Utilization) for the system. Communicates with local and system executive leadership to achieve quality, safety and service throughout the system. Maintains a positive interactive relationship with the system OHI executive leadership, physicians, and committees. Demonstrates competence in building and maintaining successful relationships at all levels of a customer-service focused organization. Liaison for all marketing of laboratory services across the system. Responsible for oversight of the School of Medical Laboratory Science program at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Actively engages in the promotion, retention, and educational excellence of OHI#s laboratory professionals. Prepares and projects laboratory operating and capital budgets. Coordinates with the billing department to optimize charge capture of testing. Qualifications Associate#s degree or higher in Clinical Lab Science required upon hire AND Master#s degree or higher in Healthcare Administration required upon hire OR Master#s degree or higher in Business Administration required upon hire OR Master#s degree or higher in related field required upon hire A minimum of 5 years# relevant experience required MT - Certified as a Medical Technologist through American Medical Technologists (AMT) required upon hire OR MT - Certified as a Medical Technologist through American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) required upon hire OR MLT - Certified Medical Laboratory Technician through American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) required upon hire OR MLT - Certified Medical Laboratory Technician through American Medical Technologists (AMT) required upon hire OR MLS - Certified as a Medical Laboratory Scientist through American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) required upon hire Skills and Attributes Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
