Job Summary Develops and provides services related to the orientation, continuing education, and assessment of clinical staff. Provides necessary guidance, coaching, education, and expertise to nursing staff. Assists in improving the quality of care, providing nursing staff with better recognition and response to patient care issues, and provide opportunity for development of critical thinking skills and global perspective with the novice and inexperienced nurses. Coaches, mentors, and assists nurses with problem solving, critical thinking, and early detection and intervention of patient decline. # Job Responsibilities Creates, coordinates, implements, and assesses the delivery of care for individuals and patient populations Performs competency assessments and validations of clinical team to ensure high quality care is provided Designs and implements evidence-based policies, procedures, and solutions to improve patient care and outcomes Provides advanced direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization Serves as an expert consultant for staff related to clinical practice, policies and procedures, and evidence based best practices Collaborates with other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team Provides leadership and mentorship to clinical staff; provides real-time feedback to clinical staff Monitors and evaluates processes and outcomes to assess the effectiveness of quality improvement initiatives Manages clinical research projects in support of evidence-based practice and disseminates findings while ensuring follow-up is completed Develops, implements, and evaluates educational plans/programs and utilize methods, measurements, and tools to evaluate achievement of learning goals Remains informed on the most current evidence based best practices for emergency care Collaborates with department leadership and staff to assess the learning needs and competencies of staff Provides feedback to ED leadership about care provided Facilitates and monitors onboarding of new staff members Coordinates orientation programs, preceptor development, annual skills assessments, and simulations Qualifications Bachelor#s degree or higher in Nursing required upon hire A minimum of 3 years# relevant experience required RN - Licensed as a Registered Nurse. Eligible to practice nursing in the State of Kentucky required upon hire AND BLS - Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider required upon hire AND ACLS - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Healthcare Provider required upon hire AND PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification required upon hire AND Trauma - Certification in Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (TNCC) required upon hire AND Organizational specific de-escalation training required within 90 days of employment in this position AND CEN - Certified Emergency Nurse certification through Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing (BCEN) required within 12 months of employment in this position AND ACLS Instructor - Certified as an Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Healthcare Instructor required within 12 months of employment in this position AND PALS instructor - Certified as a Pediatric Advanced Life Support Instructor required within 12 months of employment in this position Skills and Attributes Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment. Works under minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
