Clinical Risk Specialist - Athens
RESPONSIBLE FOR:
Provides clinical support to risk and claims management functions at multiple facilities. May be deployed to multiple facilities as needed. 2. Participates in the investigation and evaluation of clinical events to identify potential/active claims. 3. Conducts EMR clinical reviews and develops chronologies of events. 4. Works extensively in the RL Safety Reporting System, and participates in analyzing trends and near miss events. 5. Performs medical research on relevant issues. 6. Gathers information for discovery and in anticipation of litigation. 7. Participates in root cause analyses (RCA) for adverse or near miss events. 8. Assists hospital staff and management in developing and implementing clinical policies and procedures involving risk management or legal issues. Plans and implements ongoing staff, patient and community education addressing topical pertinent clinical risk management issues. 9. Participates in the development and presentation of staff education addressing pertinent clinical risk management issues and related subjects. 10. Maintains awareness of relevant Federal or CMS, DNV, and The Joint Commission or other accreditation requirements, and assists with reporting, facilitating surveys, and follow-up action plans as required. 11. May have on-call responsibility. 12. Assumes responsibility for own continuing education utilizing both formal and informal resources. 13. May be assigned duties in multiple facilities. 14. Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Associate degree in Nursing is required.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Three (3) years of experience in a hospital or other healthcare setting.
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field preferred. Hospital professional and general liability experience preferred. Knowledge of risk management and medico-legal decisions and terminology preferred.
