Job Summary Performs mammography and imaging procedures in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization. # Job Responsibilities Positions patients and selects anatomic and technical parameters accurately. Implements radiation protection and safety standards. Applies principle of As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others. Assesses and educates patients according to specific department protocols. Maintains a quality assurance program according to Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) regulations. Reviews patient history and physician#s orders. Educates patients regarding procedures, equipment, and exam to ensure patients# understanding and cooperation. Qualifications Associate#s degree or higher in Science required upon hire OR Associate#s degree or higher in related field required upon hire A combination of education, training and experience may be considered in lieu of degree. No experience required RT(R) - Registered as a Radiological Technologist in Radiology required upon hire AND RT(M) - Registered as a Radiological Technologist in Mammography required upon hire AND ROC - Radiation Operator Certification in the state of Kentucky required upon hire AND BLS - Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider required within 90 days of employment in this position Skills and Attributes Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment. Works under direct supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Learning and applies knowledge at a basic level relying heavily on senior staff for troubleshooting.
