Central Distribution Center Manager
The primary purpose of this position is to directly manage and develop the shipping and receiving staff and the day-to-day operations within the Distribution Center. Responsibilities include shipping/receiving VELUX products in the most cost effective and efficient manner, physical inventory, maintaining building and property, and direct supervision of staff.
Primary Functions
• Build and development of the local organization to have a motivated, loyal team who is able to work efficiently and effectively.
• Responsibility for all employee relations including selection, training, development, supervision, evaluation and safety.
• Capacity management of different resources including supervisors, shipping & receiving operatives, truck drivers, and administrative workers to ensure targets (KPIs) are reached.
• Close collaboration with inventory control department to ensure inventory holding allows effective operational flows.
• Drive continuous improvements and support daily problem solving to reach the targets within our KPIs (safety, quality, delivery and cost) for all processes inbound, outbound, regional DC replenishments and returns.
• Analyzes operating and delivery procedures, systems and schedules to identify potential efficiency improvements and cost savings.
• Responsibility for annual budgeting of expenses and performance to budget of the DC.
Secondary Functions
• Traveling to other Distribution Centers as needed.
Qualifications
• An Associates Degree is required.
• A minimum of five years of experience in logistics supervision is preferred.
• Applied computer skills in MS Office is required. A working knowledge of SAP would be beneficial.
• Experience in physical inventory control processes is required.
• A working knowledge of RF Smart, data collection system, would be beneficial.
• Must possess excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Must possess excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills.
• Willingness to take responsibility and ability to manage changes is critical.
• Focused on continuous improvement – applying Lean tools to drive service, quality and cost effectiveness throughout the distribution center.
• Must present a positive and professional appearance.
• Must possess an overall good work record and desire to work in a team environment.
