Do you enjoy hands-on work, have a fearless curiosity, and have an interest in new semiconductor technology? If so, keep reading about how you can help make a new type of electronics out of lab-grown diamonds.
Advent Diamond is a small business and pioneer in developing and commercializing diamond semiconductor electronic component. Our growing company is among the first in the US to specialize in diamond-based components for power systems, RF systems, and advanced sensors, giving the right candidate plenty of opportunities to grow.
As an Electrical Engineer, you will contribute to Advent's technology and product development, device characterization, electrical characterization, data analysis and device design. As a small business, our projects frequently evolve and change, so the candidate for this position would ideally be interested in taking on a variety of roles and be driven to learn.  Therefore, the most important characteristics for this role are: a history of learning new skills, a technical knack, curiosity about science and technology, a desire to grow, and communication skills.
The following are examples of relevant experience for this role, but don’t worry if you don’t have all of them:
●      Background in semiconductor device physics, electrical characterization, data analysis and device design
●      Understanding of diodes, transistors, RF devices, high-power devices, device packaging and electrical characterization of these devices
●      Testing devices in a laboratory environment (such as measuring I-V, C-V, high-power and high-frequency characterization plots) and understanding semiconductor concepts
● Completing research projects, p lanning and executing experiments, analyzing and summarizing data
●      Coordinating projects, being highly organized, tracking logistics
●      Working with numbers and data. Fluency in math/numerical/data/programming is a plus.
●      Experience working with technical folks and speaking up in meetings to ask questions
●      Bonus points if you have published any articles, read articles about science and technology for fun, and are familiar with electronics/semiconductor devices vocabulary, such as semiconductors, voltage, current etc.
Required Qualifications:
Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Physics or related field
Training will be provided for the core duties of this position, which will include fabrication activities in a clean-room laboratory environment, working with small samples using tweezers, doing electrical measurements, and carefully following instructions. However, an individual who can take the lead and work efficiently and with some amount of independence is desired.
This work is detail oriented that requires data analysis and critical thinking, working with chemicals and vacuum systems, quality control measurements, following and updating standard operating procedures, giving reports to the scientific team, and coordinating logistics with suppliers and users.  Given these duties, manual dexterity, visual acuity, ability to stand for up to 4 hours, and lift up to 50 pounds are required. Most of the time, we work 8AM-5PM but the person in this role may occasionally need to work outside these hours. Beyond these core duties, the ideal candidate would also be interested in learning about our scientific and technical goals in order to contribute to a wide variety of projects.
• This is the type of position that will challenge you, and grow with you.
