Job Overview: The DTG Polaris Operator and Technician will be responsible for operating and maintaining Direct-to-Garment (DTG) printing systems, specifically the DTG Polaris model. This position requires a combination of technical expertise, troubleshooting skills, and operational efficiency to ensure smooth production, high-quality output, and optimal performance of the printing equipment. The role also involves regular maintenance, equipment setup, troubleshooting, and supporting the production team in meeting deadlines and quality standards. Key Responsibilities: DTG Printing Operations: Operate the DTG Polaris printing machine to produce high-quality prints on garments and other textiles. Set up the printer, including loading and preparing substrates (garments, fabrics), ink cartridges, and ensuring correct calibration for optimal print results. Monitor the printing process for quality control, ensuring proper color alignment, resolution, and print consistency. Adjust settings and make minor modifications to print parameters as needed to achieve the desired print quality. Technical Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning printheads, ink lines, and other components of the DTG Polaris machine to ensure optimal performance. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to print quality, machine malfunctions, and ink or substrate issues. Replace parts or components as necessary, including printheads, belts, and ink cartridges. Work with management or technical support teams to resolve more complex issues. Quality Control: Inspect completed prints for quality standards, including color accuracy, resolution, alignment, and finish. Report any issues with print quality or machine performance to the supervisor for further investigation. Ensure all prints meet customer specifications and company standards for product quality. Inventory and Supplies Management: Track ink usage, garment inventory, and other materials used in the printing process. Notify supervisors when supplies are low and assist in restocking ink, garments, and other materials. Assist in organizing the workspace to maintain a clean, safe, and efficient environment. Documentation and Reporting: Document all maintenance activities, including repairs, part replacements, and other technical work performed on the DTG printer. Maintain accurate production logs, including the number of items printed, types of designs, and any issues or anomalies encountered during the process. Ensure compliance with safety and operational guidelines as outlined by the company. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with other operators, designers, and production team members to meet production targets and deadlines. Communicate effectively with supervisors and other team members to resolve issues and improve workflow processes. Provide training and support to less experienced staff on DTG printing operations and troubleshooting. Qualifications: Education : High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certifications in printing technology or related fields preferred. Experience : Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in operating DTG printers, particularly the DTG Polaris model, or related printing equipment. Experience with troubleshooting and maintaining printing machinery. Familiarity with graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop) for file preparation is a plus. Skills : Strong mechanical and technical aptitude. Attention to detail and ability to assess print quality. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently. Good communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet production deadlines. Physical Requirements : Ability to stand for extended periods. Capable of lifting materials (up to 25 lbs) and performing routine maintenance tasks. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with the DTG Polaris model or similar high-end digital garment printers. Knowledge of textile printing and garment preparation (pre-treatment, curing). Familiarity with color management and ICC profiles.
