Job Summary The Habilitation Technician plays a crucial role in supporting individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities. This position involves working directly with clients to enhance their daily living skills and promote independence in a supportive environment. The Habilitation Technician collaborates with families, caregivers, and other professionals to implement individualized care plans that focus on improving the quality of life for each client. Duties Provide direct support to individuals with autism and developmental disabilities in various settings, including home and community environments. Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and household tasks. Implement individualized treatment plans and goals as developed by the interdisciplinary team. Administer medications as prescribed and ensure proper documentation of medication administration. Engage clients in social skills training and recreational activities to promote social interaction and community involvement. Maintain clear communication with clients, families, and team members to ensure continuity of care. Document client progress and report any changes in behavior or health status to appropriate personnel. Utilize American Sign Language or other communication methods as needed to effectively interact with clients. Skills Experience working with individuals with autism or other developmental disabilities is essential. Knowledge of medication administration protocols and caregiving practices. Strong background in direct support services, special education, or social work is preferred. Ability to assist clients with ADLs while promoting independence. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal; proficiency in American Sign Language is a plus.
