Position Summary Responsible for customer service, document processing and related clerical and accounting duties to provide residents and dealerships with accurate and timely driving credentials; motor vehicle transfers and licenses; boat, snowmobile and ATV registrations and transfers; and game and fish privileges.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for license applications and issuance and collection of fees and taxes
• Prepares, evaluates and processes applications for various licenses, title transfers, registrations, and filings to produce current and accurate motor vehicle records.
• Processes applications for driver’s license permits and ID’s, alerting the evaluators of possible dangerous drivers.
• Conducts eye screening, takes pictures, and maintains photo imager.
• Processes and issues game and fish licenses.
• Evaluates, prepares and processes Department of Natural Resources (DNR) titles and registrations.
• Collection of Property Tax.
General office support
• Performs customer service by responding to public inquiries and requests for information.
• Prepares and submits a variety of reports.
• Enters pertinent data into computer databases accurately.
• Organizes and files numerous state applications and forms.
• Operates all office machines, greets public, answers phone calls, and returns calls to messages left on the answering machine during heavy traffic times in this office.
• Maintains office filing systems and separates obsolete records, prepares for shredding.
• Maintains inventory of state forms.
• Performs audits of cash on hand.
• Orders DNR (boat, snowmobile, etc.) forms and registration numbers and decals.
Other duties
• Attends trainings and maintains knowledge of DVS and DNR procedures, laws and regulations.

Qualifications • Associate's degree with an emphasis on accounting and computer software
OR
• One year post-secondary education plus two years of experience in an accounting/business setting
OR
• High school plus four years of experience in an accounting/business setting
OR
• Equivalent combination of education/training/experience.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to drive in the state of Minnesota.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities • Knowledge and skill in clerical and accounting functions, Microsoft Office Suite, and computer database operation.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral forms.
• Ability to understand and implement motor vehicle directives and regulations and make decisions regarding validity of certain papers presented.
• Ability to understand and explain instructions, policies, statutes, rules, procedures and systems to the general public.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
• Ability to work under limited supervision with general autonomy in determining how objectives are achieved.
• Ability to use considerable analytical ability to select, evaluate and interpret data from several sources; interpretation of guidelines, policies and procedures is required.
Grade 4 with an entry hourly wage range of $23.14 to $25.96, DOQ
