Job Responsibilities Installs, maintains, and repairs traffic signals or similar electrical systems. Performs preventive maintenance checks on traffic signals and enters inspections into teams. Assists with entering inventory into the system of record. Performs required maintenance on facility and grounds electrical systems. Assists with contract inspections and measuring signals and loops for rebuilds. Maintains all work related equipment. Performs equipment repairs to ensure safe working order. Assists with cleaning and organizing the signal shop as needed. Assists with responding to traffic signal emergencies and after-hour calls and makes the necessary repairs. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum and Additional Requirements A high school diploma and one (1) year of related work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence. A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required. Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.
Physical Requirement: The physical demands for the essential functions of this position involve bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, grasping and physically manipulating objects of varying size, shape, weight, and material. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. This position requires driving for extended periods, walking, treading rough and uneven terrain, and working in close proximity to motoring traffic and natural environmental hazards. May be subject to a certain degree of risk working with electrical currents. May be required to work outside of normal work schedule, especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental-related emergencies. Frequently exposed to outside environment in all weather conditions and noise on a daily basis.
