Industrial Fabrication Services (IFS) in Lake Crystal, Minnesota is a custom metal fabrication facility that builds metal components for many bulk material-handling industries. Currently IFS employs about 100 people in a 75,000 square foot facility. IFS is located 12 miles southwest of Mankato, Minnesota, just off Highway 60, in the Lake Crystal Industrial Park. From this location IFS ships products throughout the continental USA, Canada, Mexico, and worldwide. IFS works primarily with general contractors, custom equipment manufacturers, mining companies, agricultural processors, and power generation facilities.
Position Summary
We are searching for a detail-oriented Industrial Painter to join our team! In this role, you'll be responsible for applying high-quality liquid paint finishes to large industrial structures, ensuring adherence to safety regulations and project specifications. Essential Duties
• Apply protective coatings to large industrial structures.
• Follow safe painting practices and environmental standards (EPA & OSHA).
• Prepare surfaces for painting according to SSPC guidelines.
• Estimate time and materials required for projects.
• Apply various coatings (epoxies, acrylics, polyurethanes, enamels) as specified.
• Utilize NDE testing equipment (thickness gauge, holiday tester, etc.).
• Coordinate with the shop foreman for space, drying time, and material layout.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, including equipment and paint booth.
• Identify and report issues with surface prep (anchor pattern, blasting).
• Assist in identifying welds and excessive splatter for repair.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
• 1-3 years of experience in industrial painting (manufacturing preferred).
• Ability to pass various painting application tests (e.g., uniform application).
• Ability to work safely from a scissor lift.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Maintain a high focus on quality and a commitment to safety in a fast-paced environment.
• Identify defects before, during, and after the painting process.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Proficient in English.
• Pass a pre-employment drug test and physical.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This role requires the ability to perform the following physical tasks
• Essential: Regularly stand, walk, talk, and hear. Occasionally sit, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. Frequently lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds, with occasional lifting of up to 75 pounds.
