Job Summary Manages the daily operations of Materials Management department. # Job Responsibilities Develops and implements policies and procedures related to purchasing functions, warehousing, inventory control, receiving, and supply distribution of materials, forms, mail, supplies, and equipment for hospital use. Manages the flow of supplies, products, and services from source to point of use. Oversees the interviewing and negotiating with sales representatives. Manages the development of Requests for Proposals (RFP#s) bids and quotations. Manages the review and analysis of Group Purchasing contracts and ensures compliance, financial accounting, and product standardization. Assists with developing specific departmental goals, standards, and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization. Manages staff relations including performance management, staff satisfaction, and conflict management. Performs and manages scheduling, recruitment, and payroll. Monitors department budgets, regulatory compliance, department contracts, and vendor relations. Supports special projects and business analysis as requested. Collaborates with other departments to evaluate service levels and to identify potential process improvements. Qualifications Bachelor#s degree or higher in Business Administration required upon hire OR Bachelor#s degree or higher in related field required upon hire A combination of education, training and experience may be considered in lieu of degree. A minimum of 4 years# relevant experience required No licensure/certification/registration required Skills and Attributes Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment. Works under minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
