Position Summary
The Senior Event Manager is a leadership role responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing all aspects of event management to ensure seamless operations and high client satisfaction. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Events or Director of Events, this position acts as a key liaison between internal and external stakeholders, overseeing event logistical systems from initial planning to post-event evaluations. The Senior Event Manager supervises event managers ensuring high standards in coordinating event setup logistics, customer service, and compliance of the General Operating Policies. This role emphasizes operational efficiency through training on and implementation of essential event software such as Microsoft Teams, Cvent, and Momentus. The Senior Event Manager has the authority to make operational decisions on behalf of the Event Management Team to maintain event quality and address on-the-spot challenges. This role requires an expert ability to analyze challenges, propose solutions, and implement effective strategies that align with organizational goals.
This role will pay a salary of $60,000 to $64,000.

Responsibilities
• Lead and oversee the planning, servicing, and supervision of large-scale events.
• Direct the creation of detailed event documentation, including staffing requirements and logistical plans using industry-standard tools such as Cvent, Momentus, and Microsoft Teams, ensuring efficient and proper training on these platforms.
• Maintain decision-making authority for the Event Management Team, ensuring timely and effective resolution of event-related issues.
• Oversee the preparation and distribution of comprehensive event documentation, including floor plans and setup requirements, ensuring compliance with safety standards and client specifications.
• Collaborate closely with the Assistant Director of Events and other departments for resource coordination and alignment with broader event strategies.
• Ensure timely communication and coordination with clients and vendors to meet event needs and resolve any operational challenges during events.
• Oversee the inspection of the setup and breakdown of events, ensuring compliance with client specifications and safety regulations.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, staff, contractors, and municipal officials to support event success.
• Propose enhancements to event processes, tools, and team training programs to promote continuous improvement in service delivery.
• Analyze challenges, identify alternative solutions, and project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of organizational objectives.
• Complete all duties with a customer service focus through teamwork & dedication to the Greenville Convention Center’s principles
• Oversee the completion of pre-show event financial estimates and post-show event settlements.
• Create work schedules for event & security staff, delegate assignments, and review performance/results.
• Recommend and evaluate required event staffing levels for security and guest service needs.
• Investigate and resolve event-related complaints in a professional manner ensuring customer satisfaction
• Coordinate service needs with Food and Beverage provider & make hospitality arrangements as needed.
• Serve as Manager on Duty (MOD) when necessary, providing leadership during events and ensuring adherence to venue policies.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Event Management, Hospitality Management, Facility Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in event management within public assembly facilities, convention centers, arenas, or similar venues.
• Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) certification or related certification is preferred.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid CPR certificate.
• Proficiency with event management software (e.g., Cvent, Momentus) and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills with a proven ability to train and motivate teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Ability to multitask and manage multiple events simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
• High degree of organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Strong client service orientation and commitment to quality.
• In-depth understanding of event operations, customer service practices, crowd management, and control techniques.
• Knowledge of relevant safety regulations and public assembly compliance standards.
• Familiarity with budget preparation, tracking, and cost analysis for event management.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and climb stairs as needed.
• Experience with diagram development and an online booking system is preferred.
• Knowledge of customer service practices.
• Demonstrated familiarity with facility use contracts.
• Knowledge of fire and public safety regulations.
• Knowledge of A/V equipment and electronic systems in public assembly facilities
• Familiarity with terminology used in entertainment/convention/public assembly settings
• Capability to lift and move items weighing up to 40 lbs.
• Willingness and flexibility to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as determined by event needs.
